Albania's qualification for the second time to the 2024 European Championship finals was, for coach Sylvinho, the first time he had tried to reach such a stage of such a major tournament.
However, the renewal with him for the new edition, which were the World Cup qualifiers, did not result in such automatic, i.e. without negotiations, as such contracts normally provide for the achievement of objectives.
However, things were resolved even though the objective ahead was another mountain, much tougher than that of qualifying for the European Championship, qualifying for the final stage of a World Championship, with a group that also included England, Serbia, Latvia and Andorra.
Today, Albania is very close to realizing its dream, we came second, behind England, giving everyone another chance, the play-off challenge to be part of the 48 best teams in the world participating in the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The fans, but in fact all Albanians, inside and outside the borders, were proud, with the victory over Serbia, with reaching second place and with the chance and hope that we still have to be where we have never been. But achievements, just like defeats, share the credits. So Sylvinho, with this achievement, gave the red and black team and all of us the opportunity to continue dreaming of the World Cup, but he also gave himself credits, from professional ones, and undoubtedly financial ones.
The contract renewed in the summer of 2024 ends at the end of December, but his objective for still being at the head of the red and black bench is to qualify for the World Cup, not simply second place.
Sylvinho has received a bonus to be paid for another 3 months as coach of Albania, that is, until March, when the two play-off matches on the 26th and 30th are the ones that will ultimately decide our fate in the World Cup, but also automatically ensure the Brazilian another edition, otherwise, it is the negotiations that will decide his future, with or without the Rossoneri./ TCH
