Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim as manager, with the 40-year-old Portuguese leaving the club after 14 months.

The decision comes after a rift in relations between Amorimi and the club's hierarchy, including director of football Jason Wilcox.

Amoriti's tenure at United was marked by inconsistent results, leaving the team struggling to challenge for the Premier League lead.

Darren Fletcher is expected to take over on an interim basis while the club look for a permanent replacement to stabilise the squad.
