Striker Dardan Shabanhaxhaj seems to have decided to represent the Kosovo national team. According to a document published by "Telegrafi", the Rubin Kazan player has received an invitation for the matches in March, when Kosovo will face Slovakia on March 26 in the semi-final of the play-off for qualification to the World Cup.
However, the invitation from coach Franco Foda has come at an unfavorable moment for the 24-year-old. Shabanhaxhaj has suffered an injury and is expected to be out of action for several weeks, which makes his participation in this national team training uncertain.
In the document sent by the Football Federation of Kosovo to the Russian club Rubin Kazan, it is announced that the player has been included in the expanded list for the upcoming matches of the national team.
" In accordance with FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players and the official FIFA international match calendar regarding the release of players for national team duty, we would like to inform you that Mr. Dardan Shabanhaxhaj has been included in the extended list for the upcoming matches and may be officially called up to join the national team during the training period ," the announcement reads.
According to the same document, Kosovo's training camp will begin on March 23, 2026. If the player is officially invited, he will stay with the national team until April 1, 2026.
It currently remains unclear whether Shabanhaxhaj's physical condition will allow him to join Kosovo for this match cycle.
