Can the government feed us in disaster? The law on state material reserves is

The current state of the state's reserve, starting from the lack of food but products necessary in case of disasters, has returned the attention of the government to the improvement of the existing law in 70% of it.

Through a draft law submitted for public consultation, the directions in which it will be intervened are specified.

"The need to clarify the position of the material reserve of the state in function of the protection of the citizen, the need for the organization of the infrastructure of the material reserve of the state according to a plan on the management of goods, meeting the needs based on the changes in the number of the population, but also the need for the reorganization of the way of management, replenishment, distribution, refreshment and maintenance of goods raised the necessity of intervention through a new act," says Eriola Hoxha, lecturer at UMSH

"It was necessary to intervene based on the current situation."

But can the government feed us in case of disasters? According to an audit report carried out by KLSH, it results that although the minimum reserve amount of wheat should have been 300 tons, fuel 100 thousand liters and water 3 thousand liters, there were none of these products in the warehouses.

But in addition to the lack of many necessary products, according to KLSH, the existing ones are not inventoried, and in the material stocks, quality and quantity analyzes are not carried out when the products are purchased from suppliers.

Teacher Zylyftar Brgeu, who has also studied this situation of state reserves, the situation is the same in every branch of other cities of Albania.

According to him, the failure of the tenders for the supply of State Reserve warehouses is threatening to harm national security.

While the proposed draft law also lays out the storage conditions, in reality, according to the lecturers, the condition of these buildings is degraded. An issue for which the Ministry of Defense should have listed as a priority./ A2CNN
