After the serious accident involving three minors who were riding a motorcycle and were hit by a car on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard in Tirana, experts have raised the alarm about the use of these vehicles.
Safety expert Fatjon Softa has suggested taking measures to prevent such accidents. One of the minors is intubated, while the expert stressed that this situation would not have happened if the minor had had a skull.
"The accident involved three minors, one of whom is in serious condition. The blow he received was to the head. If there had been a protective measure, even bicycles would have a legal obligation to have helmets. Even police officers who find children with skateboards should impose penalties. The incident occurred in the emergency lane ," said Softa.
While Italy is considering the possibility of tagging skateboards to identify them, Softa suggests that our country also use phosphorescent vests.
"They just need to leave a credit card and it will take it. This confusion and mass use without criteria has created chaos and caused accidents. Italy is looking at the possibility of labeling them. People who ride them must have protective measures, head and knee pads. In Albania, motorbikes and skateboards must also wear fluorescent vests. Although it is not specified for skateboards, the vest should be specified ," he said for "A2 CNN".
The safety expert also says that preventive measures should be taken: from camera surveillance, to fines and the seizure of skateboards.
"There should be smart cameras mounted in certain cases that count bicycles and the number of vehicles that enter and pass through those dedicated areas. Prevention also comes with fines and let's not wait for the next accident. The fine should go to the apartment up to the seizure of the skateboard. The police are for solving the problem on the road ," he concluded.
