The Embassy's emphasis comes at a time when the Albanian government is accused of links to crime.

The United States Embassy in Albania has returned to normal operations, with a strong warning about the world of organized crime.

The embassy states that the institution is ready to return to activities after the end of the government shutdown due to budget funds.

Specifically, in the announcement, the embassy draws attention to the US's determination to crack down on international crime organizations.

The Embassy's emphasis comes at a time when the Albanian government is accused of links to crime.

Even the detail that attracted attention from Fleming's arrival in Tirana is that the official avoided a meeting with Rama.

The Embassy recalls that a month ago, the visit of the Director for West Central European Affairs, Mark Fleming, was precisely for this purpose.

With his arrival, Fleming conveyed the message of US-Albania cooperation, as well as the strengthening of NATO's readiness to strike international criminal organizations.

The American official met with the Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi, the Minister of Interior Albana Koçiu, and representatives of the Democratic Party parliamentary group.

He also met with the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, prosecutors Vladimir Mara and Klodian Braho, and Deputy Director of the BKH, Jon Keta.

With the end of the government shutdown due to budget funding, we are ready to resume our work as usual! In case you missed it, we were pleased to welcome Director for West Central European Affairs, Mark Fleming, to Albania last month. Director Fleming met with leaders from across the political spectrum, as well as with justice and law enforcement institutions, to emphasize the strong U.S.-Albania partnership, strengthen NATO readiness, and crack down on international criminal organizations ,” the embassy wrote on social media.

We recall that the US Embassy in Tirana announced on October 1, 2025, that due to the lack of an agreement on the approval of the federal budget, its activities on social networks would be significantly limited.

However, it was announced that essential consular services would continue to be provided as possible, including visas for transit and travel to the US, as well as passport services.
