After four days without a drop of water in the taps, the city of Vlora faced a serious drinking water supply crisis, while frustrated citizens confronted the leaders of the water supply and sewage system directly.
The Director General of AKUK, Flowers Shoshi, stated that he has been in the city for 72 hours to manage the situation, while publicly saying that "he has not washed" for days, a statement that was followed with irony by the citizens present.
The anger of the people of Vlorë erupted in the streets, while the confrontation took place in tense conditions. Flowers Shoshi publicly admitted the technical failure and said that the defect was the result of a landslide that damaged the plastic pipe of the main line.
According to him, this is the third intervention in the same segment and that a more sustainable solution with cast iron and steel pipes is currently being installed. Shoshi promised that full supply will be restored at midnight, while for now provisional solutions with trucks and parcel delivery are in effect.
" A landslide and water intrusion caused the defect. The current pipe is plastic and is currently no longer used. Now, cast iron and steel pipes are used for this diameter. However, this is the third repair intervention that is being carried out. This time we are more careful and are not opening the line to the end, because we saw that the high pressure could damage it. The water supply workers and engineers are on duty. Gratitude to the workers who have stayed in the water for 72 hours and in brutal weather conditions to bring water to the city. My condolences to all the citizens who are not receiving supply and we tell them that we are on duty day and night, until we return the water supply of Vlora to normality ", he said.
