Criminology expert Ervin Karamuço, speaking about the election of the new head of SPAK, stated that this was the deadline for prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office to run for the head of the institution.
He said that the special prosecutors' 9-year mandate is ending and they will no longer have the opportunity to run for this position. According to Karamuço, the new Prosecutor must bring changes in order to be successful.
"All aspects are part of a formal and informal assessment that is done to pave the way for each other. Most are finishing their 9-year mandate and can no longer compete, so this is the last chance. There are groups within that that support each other. One of the prosecutors was asked to run and he refused and suggested his spokesperson.
Xholi has the biggest CV, Goga is known as a prosecutor with an iron fist. These candidates have even been threatened, Mr. Xholi has tried to kidnap his daughter. In terms of leadership skills, apart from Mr. Xholi, Goga has been in 7 prosecutor's offices and the others have leadership skills and experience, so it is a tough competition. We look more at public opinion, that is, their perception in the public. Previously, one prosecutor would receive credit for a file of another prosecutor. The new leader must change some things because it is not only SPAK but also other prosecutor's offices.
"After the elections, there have been no more arrests, this silence is now not known how the public understands that we are electing a leader with money and then we will deal with the issues or in some other aspect ," said Karamuço.
