Berisha wants to go to the Assembly/ The session ends, the decision is given

The next session of the Special Appeal was held today for the examination of the request of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha to participate in the plenary sessions.

The session, where the lawyers of the former prime minister were present, ended around 11:00, while the decision is expected to be delivered at 15:30.

His lawyer Genc Gjolutaj announced that SPAK demands that Berisha be treated according to the Detainee Law.

"You know that today the trial was about our request for Berisha to enter the Parliament of Albania and we presented our claim. They do not accept absolutely. They want Berisha to be treated as a prisoner. More details. This is Edi Rama's strategy that has delayed this issue. I will inform you at 15:30 after the decision", he said.

Berisha, who has been under house arrest since December 30, on charges of passive corruption in cooperation with the privatization of the former Partizani complex, wants to participate as a deputy in the plenary sessions in the Assembly.

A month ago, the first instance of this court rejected this request, arguing that the former prime minister should remain under "house arrest". This request was rejected earlier also by SPAK.

Berisha's lawyers argue that since Berisha is a deputy, it is a constitutional right and obligation as a person chosen by the sovereign, to exercise political rights and freedoms according to the Constitution of the Republic of Albania.
