A fierce clash occurred in the Security Committee, where MP Klevis Balliu directly accused the Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, of turning the police into a "tool of crime and a shield for gangs."
Balliu showed Proda the "Metamorphosis" file, calling it the clearest proof of the capture of police structures by organized crime.
"This file definitively proves the police's capture of crime. Operations are being exposed from within. You have the gangs' problem, not the state's," the Democratic MP told the head of the State Police.
Balliu then accused Proda of protecting the interests of criminal groups.
"You are afraid of gangs being affected, not citizens being affected. For skateboards, you come out with 4 vans. There was no police at the airport, not even with satellite," the Democrat MP continued.
He emphasized that the way the perpetrators killed, fled, burned the car, and disappeared from sight within 90 minutes shows a complete degradation of public order.
"Under your leadership, Durrës does not seize a single gram of cocaine, while Europe talks about Albania's role in international trafficking. Now Sinaloa has also arrived," the Democrat MP continued.
Balliu described the police actions as "folkloric and ridiculous," while organized crime operates untouched:
"The mafia has everything in its hands. You deal with the bars and they have taken over the streets, but the gangs are taking the breath away from the state," Balliu added.
The hearing was accompanied by raised tones and harsh retorts. Proda avoided answering many of the accusations, while the tension became noticeable in the Commission room.
