The preliminary hearing for the Veliaj case has been postponed at the Special Court, with the defendants being the mayor of Tirana, his wife, Ajola Xoxa, and 28 people and associates.
The GJKKO gave the defense time to familiarize themselves with the acts and decided that the next session would be held on December 2.
In this session, it is learned that the two businessmen Meriman Palushi and Sokol Kryeziu have requested the dismissal of the case and not a summary trial.
During the preliminary hearing, the mayor's lawyers requested additional time to familiarize themselves with the documents in the file.
They also requested that their client be personally acquainted with the acts and that they be delivered to him in prison.
Veliaj is accused of money laundering, undeclared assets, passive corruption in 9 episodes, abuse of office and bringing prohibited items into the cell. While his wife Ajola Xoxa is accused of undeclared assets, concealment of income and money laundering. Also included in this file is former socialist MP Klotilda Bushka, who is accused of actions that hinder the discovery of the truth.
