Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31, 2023 with an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo for the purpose of extradition to The Hague. The former KLA fighter was accused of revealing the names of witnesses in several cases previously opened by the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo.
In a television interview, Goxhaj spoke about an article that landed him behind bars.
"I wrote a letter dated January 1, 2023, in which I accuse that the Special Court of Kosovo based in The Hague has convicted on the basis of false evidence a fellow combatant of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the commander of the special units of the operational area of Llapi in Kosovo", said Goxhaj.
He also spoke about the contribution he made in the war together with his father.
"The military profession is related to the war, at that time we thought that each of us should make our own contribution without coordinating the action with each other. When the bombing started the first days, I asked myself questions; what I want here is not a matter of bravery, but a matter of care, what you experience. At first you don't know where your heart beats, and until you get used to it, you're getting through it with the help of your comrades and finding the will to stay. One gets used to even the most difficult things", said Goxhaj.
