Journalist Artan Hoxha has commented on recent developments in Saranda, regarding criminal events with interests in properties and businesses on the coast.
According to him, most of the serious cases occurring in the area are directly related to economic activities on the coastline, such as hotels, beach bars or tourist businesses.
" All the recent events in Saranda have to do with kidnappings, two people kidnapped and killed. One of them had a disco in Ksamil. We have the other event that had a hotel in Saranda. We have the other event where they were killed for the beach bar on the beach. This last one too, the business was on the beach.
"If you look at it, all the events in Saranda are related to this, namely the properties and businesses on the coast. The local police should have been responsible for this, exactly for this! Not for the constructions. For the constructions without permits, it is others, because we have made the law that way ," he said.
Hoxha added that the responsibility for security falls on the police, while for illegal constructions, responsibility should be sought from the relevant institutions. According to him, the problems in Saranda cannot be solved only by arresting inspectors, but require long-term solutions starting from infrastructure and property issues.
" If we follow this standard in Tirana with 8-story buildings without permits in the middle of "Skënderbej" Square, the General Director should have been put in prison. But this has not happened. Then how are you going to solve it? Why do they crack everyone down there in Saranda, and here we don't do this work?"
The approach should be completely different. However, this story of Saranda itself did not start from a high-level investigation. If you look at them, they are all citizen complaints. While we in Saranda have the port, which had an army there and whose status we have not resolved. Meanwhile, we see every summer that yachts from the richest people on the planet come, are supplied at that port and leave.
"So, if you really want to solve the situation in Saranda, both this criminal situation, but also this other urban situation that has been created there, it cannot be solved by arresting the area inspector ," Hoxha emphasizes on "Euronews Albania".
