Today is International Human Rights Day. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948 at the Palais de Chaillot, Paris, arose as a response to the horrors of World War II and represents the first global effort to articulate the protection of to those rights which many people believed were fundamental rights belonging to all human beings.

In a reaction made on the Facebook social network, the US embassy in Tirana writes that this day is a reminder that we can all help create a fairer and more equal society for every human being.

"Human Rights Day | Today marks the 75th anniversary of one of the world's most innovative global commitments: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human Rights Day also marks the end of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This day is a reminder that, through our actions, we can all help create a just and equal society for every human being regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinions, nationality or social affiliation, wealth, birth or other designations. The United States is proud to support the rights of every human being," said the US embassy's response.

What happened on December 10, 1948

The General Assembly of the United Nations issued and announced the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. After this historic act, the Assembly invited all member states to promulgate the text of the Declaration and try to spread it, present it, read it and explain it, especially in schools and other educational institutions of all countries and states, regardless of status their political.
