Some citizens from Elbasan have been summoned to SPAK to give statements, as part of the investigation for the "check up" concession.
It is learned that the Special Prosecutor's Office has called 70 citizens from Elbasan to testify today, who are part of the lists that are reported to have received the check-up service.
In their summons, it is said that the taking of testimony is a function of proceeding no. 122 of 2020.
The elderly will be asked separately and will answer the questions of the BKH investigators about how many times they performed the "check-up", and in which centers they did it.
INVESTIGATIONS
The former minister of health, Ilir Beqaj, appeared last year (July 18, 2023) in the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime. He was interrogated regarding the sterilization and "Check Up" concessions.
Only the medical equipment sterilization concession has a contract of 12.3 billion ALL, while 'Check Up' amounts to around 8.7 billion ALL.
The procedure for sterilization of surgical sets is the first SPAK file and has been under investigation for 3 years.
We remind you that SPAK has registered the criminal complaint filed by the "Thurje" initiative for the inclusion in the concession of the sterilization service of surgical tools in public hospitals since January 16, 2020.
Since the beginning of this year, SPAK and GJKKO have launched investigations into low-level corruption involving dozens of people. It is learned that the investigations for these two important files extend beyond 2019, even up to 2015, in order to discover the officials involved in the abuses.
On April 24, 2016, the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana summoned the Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj, to testify about the concessions granted in health. The questioning was said to take place after the investigation initiated mainly by the Prosecutor's Office in relation to the procedures for the concession of some hospital services. In addition to Deputy Minister Rrjepaj, it was said that members of the tenders commission at the Ministry of Health were called to be questioned.
The investigation into concessions in health started at the end of 2015, beginning 2016 with the initiative of the Prosecutor's Office by the task force unit. The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana announced at the time that in the investigation, the concession for hemodialysis, worth 86 million dollars, that for the sterilization of surgical equipment, worth 100 million dollars, as well as the concession of free check-up, were obtained.
Initially, the prosecution body seized and verified the necessary documentation related to the complex procedures of granting public services with a concession, and then it would continue with the questioning of persons who had knowledge of the case. The multi-million concessions of health services put the former minister Ilir Beqaj at the center of accusations from the media and the opposition, as it turned out that unknown and inexperienced companies had been their beneficiaries, making the investigations for these concessions not closed today. day.
