The May 11 elections were competitive but polarized. This is the assessment of the final report of the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission for the general elections. Once again, the observation mission report, as in the last two election years, 2017 and 2025, noted increased pressure and voter intimidation as well as the advantages of the ruling party that used administrative resources.
Vote buying and electoral corruption remain a major problem in all three cycles, with SPAK taking active measures only in 2025.
Analyst Arjan Curri commented on the ODIHR report, emphasizing that the Democratic Party's problem continues to be Sali Berisha, for whom, according to him, the only solution is his removal from the opposition.
"The numbers you showed us today, Berisha will never become the first. Even if he joins with Shehaj and Lapaj, he will not become the first. Mathematics does not allow it. Neither unification is a solution. Nor war is a solution. Nor foreigners are a solution. The only solution that the opposition does not accept is the change of Berisha. Or they take up arms and go out and fight. Now we combine the votes, mathematically they will not come out the first again", Curri said for the show "Top Story".
