In the first episode of the podcast "Talk to Anila Hoxha" on Top Albania Radio, we talked about the properties and the conflicts that the right of many Albanian citizens to receive inherited property has produced.
There are many questions, many civil and criminal processes, citizens who are waiting and others who have ended up in Strasbourg. The conflicts are there, some resolved. Some unresolved.
"12,000 citizens are in property trials, 2,000 are at war with the state", these are just some of the statistics that the journalist brought to her podcast ἝἝς.
637 Albanian citizens were placed in the center of assassinations due to property conflicts. Of them, 185 were killed and 208 were seriously injured. For 244 others, the plan to kill them remained an attempt. Disturbing figures for crimes resulting from the 'war' for land are calculated from 1998 onwards. Property disputes pitted the closest family members, relatives and cousins or heirs against each other, with processes that spanned two decades, laws that were constantly changed.
12 thousand Albanian citizens are under civil proceedings in all the courts, and with fascicles and topographical maps they insist that they are right. 2 thousand of them are part of the stock in the high court. There is no statistic from the prosecutor's office on the number of people convicted of forgery and embezzlement.
However, the falsification of documents, which turned the sandy coastal land into agricultural land, the inherited land in the plot that was sold to strangers, remains a daily crime.
Lulë Zefi, the brave woman who denounced Pëllumb Gjoka
Lulë Zefi is a 67-year-old woman who has been fighting for land for years. He did not lose patience with the prosecutors who closed their doors.
She persevered everywhere, even though she was facing a dangerous criminal group that tried to kill her. Even when the French brought the transcripts of criminal groups talking to SKY with prosecutors and police chiefs, and her opponent Pëllumb Gjoka, the woman's report was found in SPAK.
" I am Lulë Zefi, born in Grizhë, Shkodra and married here in Gurëz, Kurbin. I am a widow with six children. I investigated that my mother has property and we were not told who our father died.
