Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço emphasized that foreign reports portray the criminal originating from Albania as a subcontractor and not as the "head" of the groups, as is commonly claimed by the public.
According to him, the phrases that say Albanians have occupied the squares of Rome for drug trafficking are totally wrong, because essentially nothing is true.
Invited to the show "Real Story", he emphasized that the drug trafficking market is controlled by Italian groups such as the Camorra or the 'Ndrangheta.
"The history of Italian crime includes Albania as a proxy and a subcontractor. I have noticed many reports these years that anti-mafia prosecutors laugh when they are told our reports, that we sometimes set ourselves up as a trap when we say that "Albanians have occupied the squares of Rome for drugs". Who leaves you in Rome? Who leaves you the Camorra or the 'Ndrangheta?" , he said.
He added that as far as our country is concerned, the brain of organized crime is the city of Fier. According to Karamuço, Albanian criminal groups fall into the trap when they are exposed or when they create connections with political figures both at the local and central levels.
"The traditional brain of organized crime in Albania is Fier. The problem is that these are cells that get to work when they find agreements, negotiations with large groups. The moment you are exposed and the mistake you make is to get involved in business and seek the encouragement and support of certain local and central political figures, then there is a big trap ," he added.
