SPAK, in cooperation with Italian authorities, carried out one of the largest operations against the mafia and organized crime yesterday, called "Ura". With the operation against drug trafficking and the issuance of 52 arrest warrants, SPAK demonstrated its strength over criminal groups operating in Albania and other countries.
Criminal expert Ervin Karamuço on the ABC News show “Real Story” said that SPAK undoubtedly carried out one of the best operations to date. However, Karamuço explained that Albanian criminal groups are not the most powerful in Ecuador, on the contrary, they are simply subcontractors. According to him, there are 16 criminal groups that may be related to the Ndrangheta groups.
According to Karamuço, there was a reluctance on the part of the head of the Special Prosecution Office to mention the names of those involved in this criminal organization. Some of the names were made public only by Italian authorities. Karamuço said that there was a reluctance from Dumani even in front of journalists when he was asked why the decision to issue measures in February did not match the measures we issued in May.

I don't know how the prosecution ranked it because there are 16 criminal groups. We don't know who is the most powerful and who is the least powerful because we have had tons of all of these, who have circulated from Ecuador.
The problem is how much money was found and seized. This does not make this a powerful group, but collaborations and others do. There is a big contradiction with the Italian anti-mafia, which says that we started from this, we traced the money and we found the money in Albania. But, not because finding 4 million euros in Albania out of hundreds of millions of euros, does this mean that the other parties are in more powerful groups, which we cannot say. They are the 'Ndrangheta groups, definitely because that is how it is divided. We are small subcontractor groups and the most powerful groups in Ecuador are not us , "said Karamuço.
