The Central Election Commission will begin the recount process for 2,323 polling stations today at 9:00 AM.
Today, at the "Fahrie Hoti" Sports Palace in Tirana, the recount of 2,323 ballot boxes from the May 11 elections will begin, following the decision of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS).
The recount process will begin with the 94 boxes of the Peqin and Gramsh municipalities of the Elbasan district (along with the boxes of electoral materials), to continue with Tirana (1,282 boxes), then Fier (587 boxes) and finally the 360 boxes of the Durrës district (275 boxes within the country + 85 from the diaspora.)
The process will be carried out by 24 counting tables, where 24 groups have been set up with a total of 63 election administration employees (48 counters + 15 substitutes). The recount is expected to last up to 1 month, due to the lower number of tables compared to the initial count on May 11.
The CEC has stated that it will not request additional budget, as the estimated cost of 21 million new lek will be covered by the savings of May 11. The money will be spent on the online reporting system, logistics and supporting materials. Authorized observers from the 3 complaining parties will also be present: the DP-ASHM Coalition, the SP and the Mundësia Party.
With the opening of 94 boxes in the municipalities of Peqin and Gramsh, the ballots will be compared with the election materials. In the Tirana district, all votes for both parties and candidates will be counted. In the Fier district as well. In Durrës, the KAS decided to recount the boxes of CEAZs 21 and 22 requested by the DP, and 60 boxes requested by the democratic candidate Aulon Kalaja.
