The fire situation in Poliçan appears to have gotten out of control, and according to Mayor Adriatik Zotkaj, the flames are also endangering the city.
According to reports, as a result of the fires that have engulfed a plateau near the Poliçan combine, the entire city has been engulfed in smoke. Meanwhile, the elderly in the nursing home have been evacuated, as have the residents of Plireza.
The flames also threaten the village of Mbrakull. According to Mayor Adriatik Zotkaj, there are about 120 forces on the ground, but due to the strong wind, the flames are spreading and it is difficult to bring them under control.
"The city is endangered by the fire, from the plateau. We have requested assistance by helicopter and by land, there are over 120 forces on the ground, but we are at a disadvantage due to the strong wind," the mayor says in his appeal.
