The food poisoning situation in Gramsh continues to be worrying, where it is reported that 14 children have been infected with salmonella.
Journalist Osman Stafa has provided BalkanWeb with an official email from the Local Health Care Unit (LHU) in Gramsh, confirming the spread of the 'Salmonella Enteritidis' infection in Kindergarten No. 1 of the city.
So far, 14 positive cases have been identified among children and staff, while local health structures have been instructed to show increased caution for the prevention and further management of the situation. The NJVKSH calls on all health centers and the Municipal Hospital for close cooperation and immediate reporting of any suspected case.
Announcement of the Local Health Care Unit in Gramsh:
In recent days, several cases of children with gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, fever, vomiting, weakness) have been reported in Kindergarten No. 1 in the city. Immediate measures have been taken to investigate and manage the situation by the relevant structures, and laboratory tests are ongoing to determine the cause.
Of the 79 people screened (children and staff), 14 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis were identified. Of these, 5 cases were detected from diagnostic samples and 9 cases from screening. Of the 72 examinations performed for screening, 53 were negative, 6 did not show bacterial growth, and 6 are awaiting results. In this context, we request increased vigilance from all Health Centers for:
Observation and identification of children with similar symptoms.
Immediate reporting of any suspected case to the Gramsh NJVKSH.
Close monitoring of the health status of the children of Kindergarten No. 1, both for those affected and for those who have tested negative.
Informing the community about the importance of personal hygiene and safe child nutrition.
