"Behind the bomb are common criminals linked to Ostia, Albanians importing drugs from Colombia, or the 'Ndrangheta, linked to the wind farm business. The device was home-made and not very sophisticated; whoever planted it did not want to kill, but rather send a warning."
This revelation from one of the investigators working on the investigation into the October 16 assassination attempt on Sigfrido Ranucci refutes speculation about a "political connection", which even the Report presenter did not believe.
"These are extremely sensitive investigations," emphasizes another investigator, adding "and maximum secrecy is maintained to protect the results," not to support ghost leads, Il Giornale reports.
This is why, after receiving the transcript of the Anti-Mafia hearing, Ranucci could be summoned back to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Instead of denying the crazy theory of a "political" instigator, as he has done openly since day one, Ranucci preferred to remain secret, thus fueling speculation, to respond to the senator and former Five Star Movement prosecutor, Roberto Scarpinato, who linked the bombshell news to the alleged surveillance by the secret services that Ranucci carried out after two episodes of the Report (one on the massacres and one on Giorgia Meloni's father). These surveillances, he claims, were inspired by the Undersecretary at Palazzo Chigi, Giovambattista Fazzolari, who was so enraged by this strange reconstruction that he has already filed a complaint.
But there may be further developments before the new interrogation. Analysis of images from over thirty security cameras is well underway to reconstruct the route of the dark or black Panda, the vehicle that transported the hooded man, most likely an Eastern European with extensive expertise in the use of explosives, who on October 16 is suspected of placing the explosive device outside the gate of the Ranucci house in Campo Ascolano.
From the initial investigations, it seems that the device was not particularly sophisticated, but rather a homemade device. "It is more typical of ordinary crime," explains the investigator. The common thread that connects the three hypotheses (blackmail, Ostia and Mafia) points to Albanians and is reminiscent of the attacks on gyms, beach clubs, shops and restaurants that have plagued the Roman coastline for months.
