Journalist Klodiana Lala has commented on the serious incident that occurred in Elbasan, where Edmond Hyka, also known as Mondi Mëhalla, was executed in an assassination attempt. Lala said that the police and the Elbasan prosecution claim that they have managed to uncover the authorship and the chain of persons involved in the crime, putting several suspects in handcuffs.
According to her, among those arrested is also the victim's former partner, as well as other people identified through security cameras. The footage, according to Lala, shows the perpetrator calmly getting out of a vehicle, a vehicle that turns out to be owned by one of Mondi Mahalla's companies, and opening fire. The victim tries to leave, but crashes into another vehicle, while the perpetrator calmly leaves the scene.
" So far, we still don't have a clear motive for the murder, " said Lala. According to her, although the police and the prosecution are moving between two main tracks, a conflict over drug trafficking and a business clash, there is still no clear official position. She emphasized that a thorough and complete investigation is needed to clarify the motive.
The incident comes after a period of calm in Elbasan, which was achieved after the authorities cracked down on three criminal groups in the city.
"This murder brings back the concern that the criminal balance in Elbasan may have been disturbed again ," Lala said on "This Week" on News24.
