An Albanian, who is serving a sentence in Turin prison, has been on a hunger strike for a month, demanding that the remainder of his sentence be continued in his country.
According to the Italian media, he has been requesting for a month to be deported to Albania, where he has his wife and two children, but this request has not yet been fulfilled, even though there is no reason to stop him.
He refuses to eat, while his state of health does not appear to be good. He already weighs only 30 kg, and is in a wheelchair.
The guarantor of persons deprived of their liberty and serving their sentence in Turin prison, Monica Cristina Gallo Gallo, has addressed a request to the Italian Ministry of the Interior to review the case, but the answer was that the suspension of prisoner transfers to Albania has happened due to the insufficient capacity of the Albanian prisons.
