They had received a certificate of cleanliness, but it turned out to be tainted to the Records Authority. 9 cases of state officials who have not declared their ties to the former state insurance have been identified.
In the annual report submitted to the Assembly, the Authority states that during the years 2017-2022 it was not able to verify 17 subjects because they had legal protection, but by chance they found that some of them were related to the former state insurance.
"Of the 55 cases in total, during the years 2017-2022, 17 decisions were taken for the non-administration of the request for verification, because the authentic certificate of purity was available from the responsible institutions, the Mezini and Bezhani commissions, i.e. the Authority, could not perform verification, when it was given the certificate of purity."
But among them, in 9 cases ascertained through parallel processes or 16.3% of them, data were found that connected the figure of the official with the structures of the former State Security.
The legal shield that these subjects had fell in 2022, when the Assembly rejected the certificates of purity of the figure from the two famous former commissions Mezini and Bezhani.
But, again, the public will not learn their identity. The authority chose not to make public the findings from the reverification.
"The Working Group has drawn up the summary report with 62 pages, with a classification level, where the information and data collected from the archival documentation created by all the responsible institutions, involved in the process of checking the image of the verified subjects, have been identified and reflected .”
The report was approved by Decision no. 3, dated 20.06.2023 of the Authority. A copy of the report has been sent to the Parliament of Albania.
The changes in the law for the verification of those with the certificates of the Mezini and Bezhni Commissions came after the Authority informed the Assembly that it had found Ilir Meta's name in the state insurance documents.
But the truth of that news that was learned as soon as Meta handed over the keys to the presidency, even though it shook the institutions and politics, remained completely unclear, while the Files Authority and the former head of state, today the leader of the Freedom party, continue to be in a process judicial. /A2
