Journalist Agim Baçi has stated that the concept of the MP's immunity has to do with not obstructing him in the plenary session, which, according to him, did not happen to former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Baçi made the comments in "Euronews Albania", where he said that he believes that the security measure of "house arrest" will be imposed on Berisha.
He also said that if Berisha would win the battle with justice, then the citizens have the right to claim that even the declaration of the former prime minister "non grata" is unjustified.
" Yes, of course SPAK should have done yesterday's action because Berisha challenged him. He challenged it, considering it unconstitutional, although he responded to a legal situation with a political situation. The public is unclear on this point.
Since Berisha has proposed not to have immunity, we should know that the report on the concept of the MP's immunity is also about not obstructing him in the plenary session to exercise his duties as a MP, and nobody has stopped Sali Berisha here.
So it's the concept that you don't get stopped. No one stopped Berisha. SPAK has justified that since we do not consider these as a restriction of freedom, they are addressing the Assembly for two other measures. I believe it will be 'house arrest'.
These may require steps. A legal situation must be clarified in a legal and not a political way. If Berisha would win this battle with justice, then we were also completely right to say that even non grata is in vain ," Baçi said.
