Catholic and Orthodox Christian believers celebrate Easter today, one of the most important holidays in the religious calendar, symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Solemn masses were held in two of the most important churches in the capital. At the Catholic Cathedral "St. Paul", the sacred ceremony took place in the presence of a large number of believers, who participated in prayer and celebration with great devotion.
The Mass was led by senior representatives of the Catholic Church, who conveyed messages of peace, love and hope to all believers and Albanian society.
In his prayer before the faithful, Archbishop Arjan Dodaj conveyed a message of peace and protection from war. " O Almighty and Eternal God, protect us! So that the church may see what we have believed. Do the best for us, our Lord. You raise up what has fallen and you protect what is in war. Amen! ", he said.
Meanwhile, in the Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, the atmosphere was equally magnificent. Orthodox believers gathered to attend the Easter Mass, which took place in a solemn and spiritual atmosphere. Orthodox clergy recalled the essential message of Easter – the resurrection, as an invitation to new life and new hope.
The Mass was led by Archbishop Joan, who gave a message of hope. Orthodox believers, according to tradition, receive the light after the end of the Mass.
" On this holy day, we are all invited to participate in this joy. We have the assurance that His love is stronger than hatred and that our hope in Christ is stronger than despair. Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. If the light of resurrection is lit, relationships between people will also be illuminated. Sacrifices are necessary for our spiritual healing.
Perhaps today more than ever, our world needs the message of Easter. The resurrection of Christ promises us a different future. He has made us partakers of His resurrection. Sacrifice, like blessing, is not easy, but it is necessary ,” said Archbishop Joan.
Despite different religious rites, this holy day unites the Christian community in prayer and reflection, conveying a message of unity and love among people.
