Dental clinics have sprouted like mushrooms after rain in our country, offering dental services not only to local citizens, but mainly to foreigners as well, to the extent that dental tourism has flourished in recent years, with or without quality.
Just as there are very good dental clinics that offer dental services with modern standards, there are also those that abuse them, taking advantage of the fact that this market is currently increasingly accessible to foreign tourists.
During an inspection carried out by the State Health Inspectorate in 2024 in public and non-public dental offices, as well as dental laboratories, a number of violations were found related not only to hygiene and sanitary conditions, but also to entities operating on the market without a license. Six dental clinics were fined 50 thousand new lek for operating without a license from the National Licensing Center. In four other dental clinics, the State Health Inspectorate imposed an administrative fine of 50 thousand new lek after the dentist had not renewed his license to practice the profession, after it had expired.
Likewise, in other clinics, laboratories and dental clinics, a lack of hygienic and sanitary conditions has been found, but in the Inspectorate's report these clinics and laboratories are not identified by name. In 583 inspections and re-inspections, 11 fines and 38 warnings have been imposed. But this is not surprising, since just recently, in the capital, the police found three non-public dental clinics that were using expired equipment and medications or of dubious origin on patients. / Top Channel
