The Supreme State Audit Office has received strong international support.
Currently, the SAI is among the few independent bodies that have made a major contribution to the fight against corruption. In every international report, the SAI is evaluated for its performance and allied countries have increased their support for the body headed by Arben Shehu.
Today, the Supreme Audit Office has received support from the Italian state. The Ambassador of Italy to Albania, Marco Alberti, together with the senior leader of the Guardia Di Finanza, Giampiero Carrieri, held a meeting today with the head of the Supreme Audit Office, Arben Shehu.
During the meeting, Ambassador Alberti expressed his high appreciation for the work carried out by the SAI in the field of financial control of state institutions. He emphasized that cooperation between Albanian and Italian institutions will intensify soon. Ambassador Alberti described the role of the SAI as fundamental in the process of Albania's European integration.
" You, Mr. President, occupy a delicate place in the structure and architecture of the state, above all in the dimension of negotiations for Albania's entry into the European Union, where transparency, regularity, accuracy, accountability and the system of public accounts play an essential role ," said Alberti.
The Head of the SAI, Arben Shehu, thanked Ambassador Alberti for the visit and assessment. He underlined the great importance of cooperation between the two countries in the financial investigation sector of public institutions, considering it essential for strengthening good governance and the rule of law in Albania. The Ambassador confirmed the launch of cooperation within a few months, between the SAI and important academic institutions of financial investigation.
This meeting marks an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the field of financial control, a key aspect of Albania's journey towards the European Union.
