Journalist Mentor Kikia, commenting on the national protest of the opposition in Tirana, said that it did not meet the expectations created.
Invited to the show "Now" on "Euronews Albania", he said that the Democratic Party strongly pumped public opinion that something big would happen, which was not achieved.
" We were expecting a confrontation with the police, but it didn't happen at any time ," he said, expressing surprise that the police used tear gas, despite the fact that, according to him, the protest was not as violent as expected.
He pointed out that this could be part of a strategy to attract attention or to give a warning about what might happen in the future.
The journalist added that it is the first time that the opposition protests have a real cause, which is to reach an agreement on a technical government.
" It was something more than the previous protests, but it was not what was pumped up. We expected a confrontation with the police, which never happened. I don't know why the police resorted to tear gas. Today's protest was not what was asked in public opinion to happen, something that we would respond to with violence and the great conspiracy that is in the hands of the people. All institutions were attacked with Molotov cocktails, but fewer were thrown at the town hall than what happened at the Prime Minister's Office. I believe this was part of a scenario to avoid extreme violence. Perhaps this was a strategy to get attention, but perhaps to give a warning of what might happen in the future. Police is not an action movie, but it has a purpose and that purpose is to reach an agreement on a technical government. It should be noted that for the first time the PD protest is with a concrete cause ", said Kikia.
