The Greek media outlet Kathimerini writes in its headline that Yanullatos was a beacon of peace and understanding.
The other media outlet Protothema, which dedicated a selected article to the life work of Archbishop Anastasios, also reflected the honors paid to the Archbishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.
Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, in her tribute to Archbishop Anastasios, said that he was the man who opposed intolerance and religious fanaticism and defended mutual understanding, dialogue, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence among peoples.
A statement issued by the Office of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis states that the head of the Greek Government expresses his condolences to all those who are today in sorrow over the passing of Archbishop Anastasios.
Mitsotakis, who writes that he has worked closely with the Archbishop, calls him an inspiring model for all. Newspapers, television and online media in Greece have also recalled the nomination of the Archbishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Anastas Yanullatos, for the Nobel Peace Prize in connection with the war in Kosovo as well as his religious service in Africa and his studies there.
Archbishop of the Orthodox Church of Albania Anastas Janullatos wrote more than 200 scientific articles and 24 books focused on religious research.
