Textbooks are changing, they will be adapted according to EU recommendations

Within 5 years, textbooks will change in response to the criteria for membership in the European Union.

The new curricula have been approved by the Ministry of Education, and will serve as a guide for drafters or teachers to update curricula at different times for different school levels. Experts suggest that at this stage, the changes should be in line with the reality of Albanian students.

"Those curricular changes that come with the EU recommendation should not simply be an adaptation to the textbooks that European countries have, should not simply be a copy of their systems, but we think that we have all the human and intellectual resources to create our own Albanian system ," said Irsa Ruçi, an education expert.

The documents guide teachers to include the Internet in the school process, as well as the development of students' knowledge with the help of artificial intelligence. The use of technology is also advised in the Albanian language subject, which is said to serve as a supporting tool to improve the quality of learning, increase student motivation and expand learning resources beyond the textbook.

"It is important to move towards digitalization, for learning to be interactive and not just a means of conveying information. Political, religious education, against extremism or violence, as additional information is very useful in the times we live in. What young people acquire from social environments integrated with teaching curricula, the more they will feel protected," said Irsa Ruçi - education expert.

The updated Albanian language program does not only prioritize the correct use of the language from a grammatical point of view, but also the acquisition of skills to use the language in various communication situations.

"The Albanian language should be studied as a separate science, then the communicative part of how it is translated into human relationships should have a different focus. We should pay attention to the Albanian language as a structure that keeps identity alive. Before they communicate Albanian, they must understand it ," said Irsa Ruçi, an education expert.

The socio-emotional approach to teaching, the development of empathy, and the building of a conscious civic identity among students are seen as important in the curriculum reform./ TCH
