The elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, who is also a candidate for the European Parliament from the ranks of the New Democracy of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, declares that he is determined to fight for his innocence and for Himara.
Beleri has appeared on social networks speaking from prison to the Greek media.
Beleri has declared for the Greek television 'Mega' that he is the only candidate for deputy in the European Parliament who cannot campaign, as he is in prison.
Also, he has stated that in prison he is treated the same as all other prisoners.
"I wake up in the morning and see the image of the Virgin Mary in front of me. For thirty years that I have been involved in politics, I wanted to serve the rights of the Greeks in Albania. We have no rights, we are far from what we call "the state of law" and I will fight for them in the European Parliament" , said Beleri.
Beleri also declared from prison that he will not give up Himara.
"I thank the Greek Prime Minister that, with this move to participate in the European elections, gives me the opportunity to support Himara from a different perspective. I am not giving up on Himara", said Beleri.
