Snowfall has caused the complete blockage of the Qafë Thore–Theth road axis this Thursday. The Albanian Road Authority announced that the cause of the traffic disruption is the avalanche in the area near the panoramic tunnels.
According to the ARA, the situation poses a high risk for crossing and for this reason, traffic has been prohibited for all vehicles, including snowplows.
"As a result of the avalanches in the area near the panoramic tunnels of the Qafë Thore–Theth axis, the road has been completely blocked. For safety reasons, traffic will remain closed to all vehicles, including snowplows, as the area poses a high risk of crossing," the official announcement states.
The Road Authority calls on drivers to respect road signs, avoid this axis and follow only official announcements for further updates on the situation.
