The EU will adopt "an ambitious legal proposal on returns", which are "a key element of the Pact on Immigration and Asylum".
This was announced by EC President Ursula von der Leyen, while it appears that all EU countries are joining the line previously followed by Giorgia Meloni's Italy to establish migrant reception centers in third countries.
The new EU plan foresees that the Union will react as one, meaning that the return of migrants will not be a policy pursued by just one member state, or individually by the respective governments.
A regulation that is "clearer and simpler", that "prevents the escapes" of illegal immigrants and "facilitates the repatriation of citizens who do not have the right to stay in third countries".
“Those who are forcibly repatriated,” Ursula explained, “will be denied entry. And we will be stricter. Where there are security risks, we will be firm. But we will also make sure that we act in full compliance with our obligations under international law…”
This new EU rule refers to the Italy-Albania agreement, a pact that has started to function, despite Italian courts having ruled against it. But now with the new European law, no court can oppose it. England is even seeing this opportunity and is negotiating with Kosovo to build immigrant centers, like in Gjadra, Lezha.
