Pope Francis letter to Cardinal Ernest Simoni: Thank you for what you have done for the Church!

Pope Francis has expressed his spiritual closeness to Cardinal Ernest Simoni with a letter addressed to the latter on the 60th anniversary of his arrest by the communist regime in Albania, wishing him Christmas.

Dear Brother,

I would like to express my spiritual closeness to you on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of your arrest. Thank you for the testimony, thank you for what you did and do for the Church. Continue to be the joyful icon of the love of Christ, the Good Shepherd, who sacrificed his life for all.

Wishing you a Holy Christmas, I give you my blessing with all my heart, which I also extend to all those who share this moment with you. Pray for me as I will pray for you and we will both pray for peace in the world.
