The United States Embassy in Tirana published the message of US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, made during the joint conference with Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, where he warned of the lifting of visas for persons who pose a threat to US foreign policy and national security.
"If I identify a visitor to our country whose presence poses a threat to our foreign policy and national security, we will revoke their visa," Rubio declared.
During the same conference with Orban, he clarified that the measure applies to any category of visitor, student, tourist, journalist or other individual, if they engage in activities that conflict with the national interest and national security of the United States.
Rubio noted that in some cases, visa revocation can occur even before the action is taken. "In fact, if we had known you were going to do it, we probably wouldn't have given you the visa," he said during the press conference.
The US Embassy in Tirana distributed this statement without adding official comment.
