Amid debates and controversies, Arqile Bollano has been elected as the new head of the Municipality of Himara. After the resignation of the acting mayor Blerina Bala, the Municipality of Himara was once again left without a leader. So this Friday, the Municipal Council of Himara met and voted for the person who will temporarily lead this municipality.
According to the statute, the post would be taken by one of the two vice-mayors, so a race took place between the two current vice-mayors of the municipality, Pervin Gjikuria and Arqile Bollano. The latter was also the chairman of the Socialist Party in Himarë
The meeting was accompanied by debates and discussions, but in the end, the Municipal Council of Himara voted Arqile Bollanon as temporary mayor.
We remind you that Blerina Bala remained as the acting president for 2 months. She submitted her resignation on Wednesday and announced that she is stepping down for personal reasons.
Bala assumed the post of mayor after the arrest of Jorgo Goros on the charge of alienating two properties. Meanwhile, the mayor elected on May 14, 2023 for the municipality of Himara, Fredi Beleri, is in prison for buying votes.
