The National Food Authority has blocked a truck with 25 tons of corn coming from Serbia.
It is learned that the truck carrying corn was blocked at the Hani i Hoti customs after chemicals were detected. The truck was entering Albania from Montenegro.
The reason was the presence of aflatoxin B1 in the quantity of corn, which exceeded the permitted norms for Albania. According to sources, this norm is permissible for EU countries, but not in Albania, as it is above the permitted norms. In this way, the AKU in Shkodra has blocked the quantity of 25 tons of corn.
The final destination was the city of Elbasan, and it is about rejected livestock corn. The action is ongoing and other quantities of corn are expected to be blocked because the procedures are being carried out at the Hani i Hoti customs.
It is also reported that the AKU has also blocked a dairy farm in the village of Trush, Shkodra municipality, due to several irregularities found there.
