Despite the fact that in the last hours of 2025, the State Police published a plan of measures, both in terms of order and road safety, it seems that the bloodshed on the roads has not been prevented.
Five people have lost their lives as a result of two tragic accidents that occurred in the first days of 2026. The death toll, not including accidents with injuries, is frightening, considering the fact that everything happened in less than 48 hours, from the tragic accident on the Tepelenë-Gjirokastër axis to that in the village of Gocaj, on the Lezhë-Shkodër axis.
The latest victims are Petrit and Elona Florini, a married couple from Puka, who were traveling in a Benz vehicle. The accident occurred near the village of Gocaj, and it is learned that the cause of the serious accident was the skidding of the 'Benz' vehicle, which, as a result of weather conditions, skidded into the other lane, colliding with the 'Porche' car.
As a result of the violent collision, Petrit and Elona Florini lost their lives at the scene. Petrit is learned that he was a police officer in Puka. Meanwhile, two minor children, aged two and six, and their mother, who were in the 'Porche' vehicle, were injured.
This accident, which occurred on the morning of January 2 on the Lezhë-Shkodër axis, follows what happened in the early hours of 2026 on the Tepelena-Gjirokastër axis, where 3 people lost their lives as a result of a collision between two vehicles.
The victims of this accident were Klejdi Myftari, 24 years old, Martin Dulaj, 25 years old, and Anxhelo Ruçi, 27 years old.
It is learned that Marin Dulaj was traveling in a "Mercedes Benz" type vehicle with his fiancée Ardisa Demiri, 19 years old, who is currently in the Trauma Hospital in critical condition.
While Klejdi Myftari was traveling together with Anxhelo Ruçi, the son of the chief of the Tepelena police station, as well as the grandson of the former speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Gramoz Ruçi.
Meanwhile, another ambulance has occurred on Kombit Road, which according to reports has overturned, while as a result several other vehicles have been involved in the accident.
In the accidents that occurred today (January 2), both near the village of Gocaj and on Kombit Road, it seems that the cause is weather conditions.
The Lezha region has been hit by heavy rainfall, which appears to have affected the road's slipperiness. Meanwhile, frost is reported on Kombit Road.
Despite the fact that in the last hours of 2025, the State Police published a plan of measures, both in terms of order and road safety, it seems that the bloodshed on the roads has not been prevented.
