Although there is no date for when the draft will be approved, the Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari, explained all the categories benefiting from the criminal amnesty that the government is expected to implement.

Minister Lamallari emphasized that the selection of categories was made in order not to jeopardize public safety and to favor a humane and fair approach, while explaining the criteria that prisoners must meet to benefit from the amnesty.

" The criterion that guided this amnesty was low social dangerousness. As for men, all those who are sentenced by a final decision to imprisonment for up to three years, or if they have a decision of over three years but have three years or less left to serve the sentence, benefit, including the fact that they are not convicted of offenses that are excluded from the amnesty, offenses with a pronounced social dangerousness. As for women, they are those who are sentenced by a court decision to up to four years in prison, and all those women who have a longer sentence but have served the part of the sentence they had and the remaining period is less than four years.

Also benefiting are female convicts who are over the age of 50 at the time the amnesty comes into force, as well as male convicts who are over the age of 60. We have also shown an act of humanity for a very vulnerable category, which are minors, where all persons under the age of 18 will be released, of course excluding acts of high social danger ," he said during an interview for Euronews with journalist Eni Ferahati.
