The Chairman of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, speaking about the 2025 elections and the preparations being made for the better organization of the process, said that he was skeptical about the progress on the Electoral Reform and the achievement of a common language between the parties.
In an interview for "News 24", Celibashi said that apart from the calendar, no visible progress has been seen to achieve a concrete result.
"Optimism should be moderate when we see that the progress within the Electoral Reform is zero. The commission closed the mission without any results. These circumstances make you skeptical about the success of the new mechanism that the parties or the Assembly have adopted to solve the Electoral Reform. It seems to have some kind of action but still a result. The fact is that apart from the calendar, we still don't have anything concrete ," he said.
Celibashi also spoke about the vote of the diaspora, for which he said that the rules must be approved immediately or otherwise the process will fail.
The head of the CEC added that everything must be approved before the end of the Assembly session, since if it goes until September, it will be too late to prepare everything.
"The Assembly must decide on the vote of immigrants, of the diaspora. Every day that passes, even if we have a process carried out in the regulatory framework, the application and failure of the process in this framework is put at risk. I hope they do not consider the repeated alert as an excuse for a possible failure of voting from abroad. The nature of the process requires that the rules be adopted as soon as possible or we will not have time to implement this process. We are losing important days. I do not believe that the number of those who are expected to vote outside the territory will be around 1 million. So I see that we have enough time if we don't waste time. It must be approved within the Assembly session. If it is postponed to September, we will be like in the conditions of the last elections ", he said.
