Sources from the Oncology Hospital tell Report TV that the radiation device, Linear Accelerator 2, has been out of service for several days. The sources say that the device has suffered a defect, and that work is underway to repair it and put it into service next week.
Report TV also requested an official response from the Ministry of Health on what happened with this device, and when it is expected to be put into operation, but there has been no response.
This is not the first time that patients with tumor diseases have interrupted radiotherapy due to problems with the linear accelerator. In a previous case, the therapy was not carried out because the door of the bunker room where the accelerator apparatus is located had remained open, and it took the patients' denunciation through Report TV to intervene to repair it.
The Oncology Hospital has 2 accelerators, state-of-the-art equipment for tumor treatment, and only one working device cannot support the weight of all tumor patients from all over Albania./ Shqiptarja.com
