A project by the Municipality of Durrës led by Mayor Emirjana Sako has angered residents of the coastal city who have attempted to forcefully enter the institution's premises.
More specifically, it is about the project that connects Currilat with "Aleksandër Goga" street, which has raised protests from residents of neighborhoods 7 and 8 who are affected by expropriations.
Citizens attempted to disrupt the meeting where this decision would be approved, but were prevented by the Police.
At today's Municipal Council meeting, one of the items on the agenda was related to the expropriation of the homes of these residents, which will be demolished to make way for the construction of the ring road.
The residents state in their statement to the media that they were not informed in advance about the demolition of the houses and oppose the expropriation value, because according to them it is impossible to buy a house with this value.
Residents are asking the municipality to provide them with a house in advance. According to the municipality, the financial value of the expropriation of 867,776,164 lek has been approved in principle for the private property affected by this public investment. 131 owners (private and state) have been identified for whom the expropriation value has been determined.
"There is no meeting, don't you dare. Leave the meeting. You should be ashamed," says an outraged citizen.
"We are leaving the houses," they said as they attempted to force their way inside.
Residents also blocked the road in front of the municipality for several minutes, while the police intervened to disperse the citizens.
