The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, has called on the ILD and KLP to act decisively to guarantee legal integrity in the case of Shkodra prosecutor Elsa Gjeli, who failed to investigate a serious criminal offense, such as that of illegal construction.
Manja has asked the ILD to conduct an in-depth investigation, after the prosecutor, without conducting any investigation, decided not to initiate criminal proceedings against the lawbreakers in Theth.
"The refusal to investigate such a criminal offense contradicts the spirit of justice reform. Prosecutor Gjeli has conducted no investigation and concluded that the criminal fact is missing," said Manja.
Manja classified the way prosecutor Gjeli acted as haste and professional incompetence.
"The ILD should investigate the case without delay, in accordance with the law. The integrity and public trust in justice must be guaranteed. Such cases undermine public trust in justice," said Manja.
