The publication of the transcript of the February 12 court session, where the security measure "prison arrest" was imposed on Mayor Erion Veliaj, has created a major clash between the latter, the GJKKO and the SPAK.
The whole clash started when Veliaj posted on his social network, a part that he claims is a transcript from the court session at the GJKKO, where prosecutor Ols Dado addresses the mayor with the words "filth". From the transcript that was published by Erion Veliaj, the high tones that accompanied the session at the GJKKO are also noticeable.
Veliaj's reaction
" This is one of the dialogues in Erion Kasapi's slaughterhouse! Read what language the SPAK prosecutor speaks, so low that even Erion Kasapi seems a gentleman in front of him!"
"This language and atmosphere, as if the Security Forces have returned from the window, after we kicked them out the door, should no longer be tolerated ," Veliaj wrote in his post on the social network "Facebook", while attaching a photo of the transcript.
The reaction of the GJKKO
Following Veliaj's statements, the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) reacted, rejecting the transcript published by Veliaj on his social network "Facebook".
In a statement to the media, the GJKKO emphasized that this record is not true, as it does not appear that the word "filth" was used during the session by prosecutor Ols Dado.
" Given your high and ongoing interest, and by submitting a request for information, based on Law No. 119/2014 "On the Right to Information", as amended, regarding the authenticity of the part of the minutes of the court session, dated 12.02.2025, published today by the person under investigation Erion Veliaj, on his social network "Facebook", we inform you that it is not true.
"From the verification made in the audio system of the court session for the interrogation of the persons under investigation Erion Veliaj, etc., dated 12.02.2025, specifically the time interval 6:34:02 PM - 6:34:57 PM (to which the suspect Erion Veliaj refers in his post) as well as from the minutes of the court session, it does not appear that the word "filth" was used by prosecutor Ols Dado at any time ," the GJKKO response reads.
SPAK's reaction
Following the GJKKO, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK) has also reacted, rejecting the claims of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, that during the hearing he was described as "filth" by the prosecutor in the case, Ols Dado.
SPAK has published the official documents of the GJKKO and the transcript of the meeting, while emphasizing that this session was also recorded with audio and at no time was the offensive term used against Erion Veliaj. In the conversation published by SPAK, the prosecutor is seen describing the publication of his apartment address by Mayor Veliaj as a threat.
" The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime informs you as follows: The minutes of the court session dated 12.02.2025, on page 292, numbered by the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) and the audio of this session do not include the words mentioned by the person under investigation, EV, published today in the media. This above is page 292 of the scanned minutes, signed by the secretary of the GJKKO" , SPAK's response states.
