The Council of Ministers has urgently approved the "Accession of Albania to the Peace Board". This decision will be ratified tomorrow in a plenary session.
Journalist Andi Tela said that the Albanian government has chosen a hasty procedure to confirm Rama's participation.
Tela also expressed that the Albanian government's rush to align itself with former President Donald Trump is an unprecedented and completely hasty move.
He emphasized that Albania is among only eight countries that have agreed to be part of the advisory board and that this political rush, urgent approval in the government and immediate ratification in parliament, seems like an orchestrated "show" to show that Prime Minister Rama is the first to obey America.
Tela openly criticizes the procedure: the unprecedented appearance of the Foreign Minister and the chief negotiator in press conferences, the involvement of parliament in a hasty debate, and the attempt to produce the narrative that Tirana is the most loyal ally, according to him, are maneuvers that only aim to damage Rama's image as a partner of the US, giving the public a manipulated view of Albania's influence in international diplomacy.
"So far, about 52 invitations have been submitted. Mr. Trump said 59 and mentioned the number 59 during his speech. Albania is one of the 8 countries that has accepted, meaning that we will be part of it, as Prime Minister Rama stated. They are the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Hungary... So, Hungary and Albania are the two European countries that have accepted in advance that, yes, we will be part of the board. Belarus is also very happy.
But the accelerated procedure, meaning it is approved in the government today and urgently in parliament tomorrow, seems like a hasty and "made up" thing to present perhaps tomorrow in Davos, to say that we have also approved it in parliament.
Yes Tusk. If you think about it, such an action is done only to say that here we are the first on the list to come after you. Because it is not an easy discussion. Keep in mind that all of Europe is in this confrontation with Trump, with America. Even Italy, which is more pro-American, Mrs. Meloni, and she, despite the fact that in Korea she said yes, we will accept it, still has internal problems, there are problems with the constitution, with the courts and is more pro-European than pro-Trump. Macron declared no. So the countries of Europe… Britain declared no. So the countries of Europe have declared no.
Now, despite the fact that this is an agreement that concerns Israel and Gaza, the question is: why does Albania, which has until now declared a foreign policy united with the EU... appear so partisan towards Trump, while it does not know how Europe will act? This is also the question.
And then, a simple answer is that we, despite obeying America in everything, Mr. Rama is rushing to be the first partisan on the list, so that maybe Trump tomorrow or the day after tomorrow will say: "Here are the Albanians, Edi Rama the first, the first Prime Minister who approved it, approved it," while the others sit back, taking brothers, old Europe, etc.
Maybe, maybe in this cacophony, some consider that Rama is a Sorosist and is against Trump. So, people have the perception that his relationship with America is not the best possible. But the fact, the fact that a letter has been distributed to, I said, 52 or 59 countries, the same, the only difference is that the name is presented in large letters on Saturday. Then the original letter is released on Sunday. Then on Monday, the Foreign Minister comes out for the first time at a press conference; he had never come out before, and they don't come out here. Then the chief negotiator comes out at a press conference; she had never come out either, because here ministers don't come out at press conferences about the problems we have. They come out only to promote the work of the government and the prime minister. And everything was dedicated to her.
"In the parliamentary session, in that famous 20-minute session, the chairman of the parliamentary group again dealt with the same issue. So, everyone is repeating the same thing, without including television or social networks. So, everyone is promoting the fact that Trump, America, are trusting Rama, are asking Rama for help so that he can be on the Peace Board and approve it ," he told "Syri TV".
