The father of the 3-year-old who lost his life in Shkodra reacts: It's not

A few days after the tragic event at the Shkodra hospital, where a 3-year-old child lost his life, his father, Samed Hasmegaj, reacted, denying media reports that the boy's death may have been caused by the use of a rat poison.

He stressed that there is no clear information about the cause of death and asked that unfounded speculation not be spread.

In a reaction to the "People" program on Euronews Albania, the child's father said;

" I don't even know what happened to the boy. The media has abused the news, I haven't seen it myself, but relatives have told me that the news says that the boy died from the medicine I may have used for rats, this is not true. The doctors told me at first that it might have been a flu-like condition, but I don't know. We are waiting for the doctors to tell me more. The girl is still in serious condition, the doctors have not yet told me how long she will stay in the hospital. The wife is also in the hospital and is in a bad state of health ," he said.

The 3-year-old's family members have also reacted, rejecting allegations that doctors did not treat the child properly, stating that the event is a disaster for the family.

They confirmed that they have no claims against the Shkodra hospital and thanked the medical staff for their efforts.

Meanwhile, they urged the media to be cautious in reporting the incident, given the girl's serious health condition and the pregnancy of the children's mother. "Any false news could negatively affect her health," they said.

The health condition of the 7-year-old girl, who is suspected of being poisoned along with her 3-year-old brother, remains serious.

She is currently at the QSUT in Tirana, while the boy passed away at the Shkodra regional hospital on February 22. According to information from the hospital, the children first presented for medical assistance on February 21 at around 6:30 PM.

After examination, doctors found symptoms similar to seasonal viruses, including vomiting and other complications.

Doctors requested that the 3-year-old boy remain in the hospital, but the father refused and took the child home, signing a refusal of hospitalization in the health record.

A day later, the children returned to the hospital in serious condition. The boy, who had been brought to the hospital in critical condition, died 15 minutes after being admitted.

The 7-year-old girl was urgently taken to Tirana, where she is currently under intensive care.

According to medical sources, an improvement in the girl's health condition was reported this Tuesday, while she continues to remain under the supervision of doctors at the QSUT.

The prosecution has launched investigations into the actions of the doctors and the causes of the tragic event.
