The Special Prosecutor's Office has summoned the head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, to testify about the Xibraka file.
A few days ago, SPAK announced that it has reopened the investigation into the suspended file and Bardhi, as a person with knowledge, has been called to give clarifications on May 24.
Bardhi was repeatedly called to go to SPAK during the next day to give clarifications, but tomorrow's session has been postponed due to Bardhi's visit to the German Bundestag.
" Following the request of the Head of the PD Group Gazment Bardhi for the impossibility to appear tomorrow at SPAK, due to an official visit to the Bundestag, I inform you that Mr. Bardhi will appear on 24.05.2024, Friday, 10:00 a.m., in order to question him as a person who has knowledge of the circumstances of the investigation, in relation to criminal proceedings no. 88, of 2024, registered in the Special Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime, after the resumption of suspended investigations in connection with criminal proceedings no. 335/1 ("Xibraka" file), of 2016, registered in the former Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance for Serious Crimes, Tirana ", says the SPAK letter.
When Xibraka's lab was discovered, Serious Crimes split the file into two parts. From the investigations, it turned out that it was an unidentified person, who had moved in a vehicle that was used by traffickers. Bardhi himself extracted the TIMS data that that person was Olsi Rama. The prosecution blocked the investigations and nothing was discovered.
It looks like SPAK will verify why the investigations were stopped and if they want to clarify the scandal, they just have to turn to the German police. They were the ones who discovered the lab and they have wiretaps and photos.
Meanwhile, there were accusations that the file was mutilated. According to lawyer Arben Llangozi, the fascicles that mention Olsi Rama have been removed.
" When Mr. Bardhi filed the criminal complaint, the prosecutors were ordered to take the file. They are scandalized by what they have seen. They have established that the investigative file, now suspended, has missing vials. So the investigative file in charge of Mr. Olsi Rama has disappeared. But who was the author and beneficiary of the disappearance of this investigation file? Surveillance reports and photos of persons who were suspects and for whom identification has not been made have disappeared from the files. For this reason, it remains to be seen what will happen in the future ", said the lawyer a while ago.
